Electrical Engineer (Projects)

Job Summary

The Project Engineer will be responsible for the design and documentation of customized monitoring solutions for renewable energy power plants. Knowledge of utility scale power plant design, development and construction is desired. The ability to marry high-tech electronics with small, medium and high voltage power equipment is essential to this position.

Summary

  • Design customized monitoring solutions for each site using standardized system components
  • Prepare one-line diagrams outlining how the monitoring solution is to be installed at the project site

Inside Sales Coordinator

Hours

In order to best serve our Western Regional sales team and customers, the individual in this position will work from 11:00am to 8:00pm EST Monday through Friday.

Job Summary

Draker Labs is searching for a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills for this position. This person will coordinate and deliver all the inside sales support utilizing knowledge of company products, policies, standards, and practices to ensure timely and accurate service. Duties regularly include the execution of agreements, order processing, and other administrative functions. This position will report directly to the Inside Sales Manager and support Draker’s in-house sales team and production team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the customer interfaces, including:
    • Assist Sales Managers in completing sales paperwork
    • Assist Inside Sales Manager with processing Purchase Orders
    • Provide implementation support with new and base accounts
    • Assist with Requests for Proposal/Information

Product Support Engineer

Job Summary

Reporting to the Production Manager, this position is responsible for supporting the Operations staff (technical support, project management, project engineering and I.T.) in the resolution of escalated issues regarding discrepancies within the network architecture, and/or application of renewable energy technologies, arising out of changing customer needs. Frequently interacts with customers by phone (and, as necessary, in person) to resolve issues and ensure customer satisfaction. Serves as liaison between Operations and Product Development regarding product feedback, new product release, and related training. Develops relationships and interfaces directly with other 3rd party vendors to ensure escalation and resolution of issues that Draker identifies as related to another vendor’s equipment. As necessary will also do hands-on project engineering by designing and documenting customized monitoring solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide escalation path for troubleshooting and resolution of technical support issues, including root cause analysis on customer networking infrastructure and product issues
  • Ensure that issues found at one site are proactively addressed and prevented at other sites
  • Track issues and identify systemic concerns and trends; act as conduit for communicating same to product development for consideration in developing new or improving existing product design and implementation
  • Manage 3rd party vendor relationships to ensure departmental and customer needs are met

Cloud Systems Administrator

Job Summary

Responsible for managing a number of true cloud virtual machines as well as cloud hybrid servers. This includes provisioning, instantiating, and destructing server instances, as well as managing numerous aspects of their operation while supporting the company’s overall cloud architecture. The Systems Administrator will also be responsible for automating and monitoring the performance of these systems. This innovative role is responsible for virtual and co-located resources, not local IT infrastructure. Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain cloud and hybrid server instances
  • Install and patch OS and application software on a variety of servers
  • Deploy custom applications
  • Accurately account for all running and provisioned instances, snapshots, and environments
  • Manage scalability, high availability, and DR solutions as developed by the infrastructure team
  • Manage cloud to cloud WAN interconnect fabrics across multiple continents

Director of Engineering

Job Summary

The Director of Engineering leads an engineering department creating solutions that integrate renewable energy plants into SCADA systems and the electrical grid. This is a full-time, non-remote position reporting to the VP of Product Development.

Responsibilities

  • Manages multiple engineering teams designing and building the following systems:
    • Data Acquisition System for power plants of varying size & complexity

Senior Web Application Developer

Job Summary

The primary focus of this position is the development of Draker’s Software/Data-as-a-Service platform and a multi-tiered set of web applications and services serving the renewable energy industry. Will be given responsibility for structuring, developing and guiding development of significant portions of applications using a Behavior Driven Development method for solving problems and building applications. This is a full-time, non-remote position reporting to the Director of Software Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Build the applications and APIs which are at the core of our Software/Data as a Service platform.

  • Work with product development and QA teams to translate business requirements into Cucumber test definitions.
  • Design and build RESTful APIs to expose application services.

Sales Applications Engineer (Western Region)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Project Development, the Applications Engineer is responsible for supporting the Western Regional Sales Managers in all technical aspects of the sales process and business development functions. The sales process includes specification, system design, RFP response, and similar functions related to selling Draker’s turn-key solutions and contributing to the growth of the company. Additional responsibilities include technical training for internal and external customers, data collection and trend tracking, providing technical support to the rollout of new products and processes, and helping to resolve customer technical issues. The Western Region is defined as those areas covered by the Pacific and Mountain time zones, along with similar areas of Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska.

Responsibilities

  • Primary technical sales support, including:
    • Face-to-face customer meetings relating to technical issues at all levels
    • Responses to customer RFIs relating to Draker products and services
    • Development of the technical portions of all RFP responses
  • Training, including:
    • Internal training of new employees that are in customer facing positions (may include employees not in the Sales Division)
    • Internal ongoing training of sales employees on new and updated products and services
    • External training of customers, at trade shows, at customer sites, and via phone/webex
  • Coordination with other departments on customer related issues, including:

Project Manager

Job Summary

The Project Manager will be responsible for developing monitoring and control solutions for the growing needs of our commercial and utility scale clients.; providing high-quality customer service, maintaining impeccable records of work requirements; and working with internal R&D, Operations and Technical Services teams to develop, document and deploy solutions that meet the needs and timelines of our utility clients and their construction projects.

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of strong technical qualifications and excellent interpersonal skills in order to excel at developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers. Technical qualifications include firm knowledge of utility scale renewable energy power plant design, project development and construction and project management skills. The ability to marry high-tech electronics with small, medium and high voltage power equipment is important to this position.

This is a full-time position that can be based out of Draker’s Burlington, Vermont headquarters, the company’s Sacramento, California office, or another state from which the Project Manager could easily travel to Draker’s offices and/or project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of our hardware and software products and their ability to adapt to a fast changing market
  • Meet with our clients regularly to learn their requirements and devise specifications that can be used to develop new products as well as deploy existing products
  • Following Draker procedures, develop timelines for project completion; deliver them to our internal team as well as the client
  • Assist in the development of, and continually improve, Draker’s internal processes and procedures
  • Manage project scope, maintain project schedules and report to senior management regularly on progress
  • Keep accurate records of project costs, project financial performance, and cost to complete
  • Manage project change process
  • Shepherd the order fulfillment process outlining how the monitoring / control solution is to be installed at the project site
  • Communicate with Project Engineers and Installers to gather information and complete installation documentation

Required Qualifications, Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical design, or construction management and a minimum of 3-5 years electrical systems contracting or construction project management experience, and/or a relevant combination of education and experience
  • Solid project management skills including management of scope, cost, financial performance, and scheduling
  • The ability to simultaneously oversee multiple projects
  • Knowledge of NEC and NFPA Electrical Codes
  • A thorough understanding of commercial and utility scale power systems, and their installation and maintenance
  • A clear understanding of Renewable Energy power systems
  • A clear understanding of network infrastructure and its deployment

Skills and Attributes
  • The ability to effectively interact with customers in sensitive and/or pressured situations
